Foram revelados os indicados de 2015 ao Satellite Awards, premiação que acontece desde 1997, promovida pela Academia Internacional de Imprensa (IPA), com membros votantes do mundo todo, com representantes domésticos e estrangeiros via mídia impressa, televisão, rádio, blogs e outras plataformas de conteúdo. A premiação era originalmente conhecida por Golden Satellite Awards desde 1997, mas mudou para Satellite Awards em 2003. O Satellite Awards contempla tanto Cinema como Televisão. Sendo 19 categorias dedicadas ao Cinema e 13 categorias à Televisão.
Esse ano Perdido em Marte foi o líder de indicações. O filme de Ridley Scott surge com 9 indicações. Três filmes vêm logo atrás, empatados com 7 indicações cada um, são eles 007 Contra Spectre, A Garota Dinamarquesa e Spotlight – Segredos Revelados. Já O Regresso, Ponte dos Espiões e Sicario: Terra de Ninguém estão empatados com cinco indicações cada. Destaque para Que Horas Ela Volta?, a produção nacional foi indicada como Melhor Filme Internacional, e para o brasileiro Affonso Gonçalves, que foi indicado pela Edição de Carol.
Na Televisão, American Crime foi líder isolada, com 6 indicações. Já Wolf Hall, Bessie e Better Call Saul empataram com 4 indicações cada. Com 3 indicações ficaram empatadas logo atrás, Show Me a Hero, Bloodline e Mr. Robot. O mais estranho é, no entanto, a ausência de séries como House of Cards, Orange is the New Black e Transparent. Todas as três foram indicadas em categorias de atuação, mas nenhuma menção a melhor série. Algo raro de ser ver acontecer a alguma das três.
